Automatic Train Control On-board Signaling is the device that displays continuously allowable speed of the vehicle and automatically stops or decelerates a train if it exceeds the permissible speed, by receiving the operating conditions on the wayside.
On-board Signaling System consists of ATC Rack, MMI, ATC Antenna and Tachometer Generator.
Speed Control of ATC Operation
It provides speed control by the ATC operating mode.
It performs the ATC function of wayside sequence speed code survey mode.
Computation of Train Speed
It computes the speed with the signal from the tachometer generator and the value of wheel diameter.
8.4” Touch TFT-LCD displays operation information such as speed limit and notifies the driver of the audible warning sound according to the situation. The driver can operate emergency operation, pre-departure test, etc. with screen touch.
Speed Limitation Recognization
It recognizes the speed limit information by receiving the signals in the closed loop installed in the railway with a pair of ATC antennas installed under the train (TC car).
Pre departure Test
It provides test function for safe operation of the train through operating the ATC system in a virtual sequence of operations before the vehicle leaves the base and checking abnormality of signal and braking device in advance.
Domestic: Seoul Metro Line- 4 EMU
It consists of a redundancy system of 1 system (main operating system) and 2 system (auxiliary operating system) to control ATC funtion and interfaces to each other between vehicles and components.
Man Machine Interface (MMI)
• The driving information such as the current speed, the state of doors, and the speed limit of the vehicle is displayed and notifies the driver of the audible warning according to the situation depending on the transmitted information from on-board ATC Rack installed in the driver’s compartment.

It is istalled at the front part of the front axle of the forward of EMU and receives speed code information from the ground signal systemt via the rail.
